Diversity in the labor market in the Czech Republic

Equality in the labor market between women and men is still a big topic of discussion, especially in areas such as leadership positions and C-level positions. According to our recent report from LinkedIn in the Czech Republic, it can be seen that the differences in the number of men and women in these positions are still large.

TIP! Millennials and Generation Z bring new challenges to the work environment, be ready for them!

The total number of women on LinkedIn in the Czech Republic is 500,000, which is almost half of the total number of men who are registered on LinkedIn, 980,000. The situation is even worse in CEO positions, i.e. in the highest positions within the company. The number of women in these positions is only 3,700, while the number of men is 19,000.

If we look at the numbers of men and women in senior positions from line managers to directors, we find that the number of men is more than double compared to the number of women.

In the area of C-level positions, the gap between men and women is still wide. The number of men in CMO Chief Marketing Officer positions is 1,400, while the number of women is only 590.

From this point of view, there are very significant differences between the representation of men and women in different positions and in different sectors. Statistics show that men are usually much more represented than women in CEO positions, C-level positions, and in leadership positions.

It is necessary to realize that this can be caused by many factors, such as family obligations, prejudices and stereotypes, the absence of flexible working conditions and others. However, if we were to talk about equality in the labor market between women and men, then these statistics show that equality is far from being achieved.

TIP! Nowadays, the job method is becoming more and more popular for posting on social networks. Read how to do it!

Equality in the labor market is important not only from the point of view of justice and equal opportunities but also from the economic point of view. When women are discriminated against and do not gain access to the highest positions and rewards, society loses the potential and opportunity to use the talents and abilities of half the population. Conversely, when equality is achieved, it can bring many benefits in the form of greater productivity, innovation, and economic growth!
